The Hifadhi Blu Program is an ambitious initiative that seeks to improve the management of Ocean Conservation Areas across the Western Indian Ocean. By strengthening technical and financial support for marine conservation sites, building the capacity of local managers and practitioners, and fostering regional collaboration across the region, the program amplifies the impact of conservation efforts to secure a sustainable future for oceans.

The program is a collaboration between the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA), the Minderoo Foundation, and ACS. The program launched in October of 2024 and will run for four years. ACS led the development of the strategy and is supporting WIOMSA in the implementation of the program’s systems thinking approach, along with program monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
