Coastal Solutions Fellows Program

Many environmental programs have capacity building front and center in its theory of change. ACS defines capacity as the ability to carry out stated objectives. We define capacity building as a process that improves the ability of a person, group, organization, or system to meet its objectives or to perform better. With Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, we led the design of a fellowship program whose goal is build capacity and promote new collaborations in Latin America focused on coastal solutions. We continue to colloborate with the Coastal Solutions Fellows Program, which is part of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, to strengthen the capacity of young professionals working on coastal solutions along the Pacific Coast of Latin America. This includes supporting the Program around strategy, theory of change, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
