New York Times Magazine
Every December over the past ten years, New York Times Magazine looks back on the past year through a distinctive prism: ideas. Their digest of short entries refracts the light beam of human inspiration, breaking it up into its constituent colors — innovations and insights from a spectrum of fields, including economics, biology, engineering, medicine, literature, sports, music, and more. Pleistocene Rewilding – a bold proposal to restore North American ecosystems with large animals and through the lens of ecological history was included in the big ideas of 2005. ACS’s Josh Donlan led that effort, which the Times suggest is “a delicious idea, and the moment seems ripe.”
Time's columnist Nicolas Kristoff also wrote about rewillding in a piece entitled "Where deer and lions play", stating "At a time when environmentalism defines itself largely by what it is against, re-wilding provides a positive vision."
