Incentivizing Preemptive and Cost-effective Environmental Benefit
We create outcome-based frameworks that deliver verifiable environmental gains via environmental offsets. We spent two years working with ecologists, economists, fishermen, and others developing a science-based offset program for seabird and sea turtle bycatch in the fisheries sector. With the Mexican NGO Grupo Tortuguero, ACS has developed a program that provides interfishery resource transfers between commercial and industrial fisheries, that results in cost-effective conservation gains for endangered sea turtles. With the World Resource Institute and others, ACS has developed an offset framework in the U.S. that incentivizes early conservation action prior to species become officially endangered. We do so by leveraging markets, and backing them with science.
